Research & Write: 

  • Research and write a 1-2 page biographical essay on someone you've learned about during these lessons. Describe their life and legacy. How did their life impact others? Describe why you chose to write about them. What do you admire about them. What if anything was surprising about them as you dug deeper into their story?


Think & Answer:

  • What were some of the struggles for black people during the first half of the 1900s?
  • What was the significance of the Harlem Renaissance?
  • Why do you think white people were in favor of segregation, especially after having black people in their homes and on their plantations for hundreds of years?


Know: 
  • What is the NAACP and why was it formed?
  • Name three things that black people were not allowed to lawfully do that white people could do in 1940.
  • What was the Tuskegee Syphilus Experiment?
  • Name 3 African American heroes and what made them awesome.
